Ledgent Finance & Accounting is seeking a Cost Accounting Supervisor to support our manufacturing client for a 3-6 month temporary assignment. The Cost Accounting Supervisor will oversee and execute all cost accounting activities, ensuring the accurate application of cost accounting principles and compliance with GAAP. This role partners closely with operations to support timely, accurate financial reporting within assigned areas and to lead or support various strategic and process-improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret gross margins, material and volume variances, inventory activity, and other cost-related reports and metrics.
Collaborate with operations to monitor cycle counts and address inventory-related matters.
Review, update, and maintain material and overhead rates.
Lead or support standard cost rollups in coordination with operations.
Contribute to the maintenance of effective internal financial controls to ensure accurate financial statements and safeguard company assets.
Provide management with recurring cost reports, offering insights into inventory trends, product cost changes, variances, warranty considerations, and obsolescence.
Support quarterly and annual external audits, including variance explanations and related documentation.
Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance inventory accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
Proven ability to partner effectively with manufacturing and leadership teams, offering insight and recommendations that improve operational and financial performance.
Strong experience identifying drivers of cost variances and proposing corrective actions.
5-7 years of finance or accounting experience, including 3-5 years in a cost accounting leadership or supervisory role (preferred).
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA or CMA certification preferred but not required.
Exceptional attention to detail with a strong analytical focus on manufacturing cost behavior and variances.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with widely used manufacturing ERPs is a plus.
